Ear infections (otitis)
An ear infection is an inflammation of the ear, often caused by a bacterial or viral infection. It can affect the outer, middle, or inner ear. It is common in children but can occur at any age.
Tonsillitis (sore throat)
Tonsillitis is an acute inflammation of the throat, specifically the tonsils, caused by a viral or bacterial infection. It causes a sore throat, sometimes accompanied by fever. It can be red (erythematous) or white with patches (erythematopultaceous).
Sinusitis
Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinuses, the cavities located in the bones of the face. It often occurs after a cold or respiratory infection and can be caused by a virus, bacteria, or sometimes allergies. It can be acute or chronic.
Throat pain
A sore throat is a painful or irritating sensation in the throat. It can be caused by a viral or bacterial infection or local irritation. It is often mild but can sometimes indicate a more serious problem.
Hearing loss
Hearing loss is a partial or total reduction in the ability to perceive sounds. It can be sudden or gradual, affect one or both ears, and occur at any age. It can range from mild to moderate, severe, or profound.
Runny or bleeding nose
A runny nose (rhinorrhea) is the discharge of nasal mucus, often due to an infection or allergy. A nosebleed (epistaxis) is bleeding from the nasal lining, usually mild but sometimes recurrent.
